How acoustical tiles get dirty.
Wednesday, July 28th, 2010Acoustical ceiling tiles have porous surfaces which become dirty, layer by layer, from the inside out. Microscopic and larger soil particles float in the air and adhere to the inner surfaces – through the pores – and ultimately out to the surface of the tile.
The soil is made up of dirt, grease, nicotine, tar, body and cooking oils, micro dust and much more. As the tile becomes dirty it also becomes sticky and the soiling process is accelerated.
